So I read up a litte before i started this install and well ill just say the whole damn thing was wrong. bolt sizes, procedure... all of it.
kk so here's my install procedure.
1 grab lots of extensions 1/2 and 3/8ths a big ass breaker bar and even a cheater bar.
18mm 17mm 14mm sockets
swivel socket
13mm(wrench)
adj wrench for o2 sensors.
k so get thecar up on jack stands as high as you wish (the higher the better )
start with the fixed flange as if you cant get those bolts off its a waste of time if you've already loosened the rest of the system up.
grab your 18mm, extensions, swivel socket and get a good bite on the nuts up there. I did this with the o2 sensors still installed. use your breaker
and cheater bar if you have to to get these out. these two bolts alone took me nearly 3 hours to remove so ya... when they come loose from a stock setup.. its gonna be loud. we thought we broke one of his tools.
the rest of the removal is very straight forward. if one loosens then the other normally comes out pretty easily. make sure you disconnect the o2 sensor plugs, i had to use an 8mm socket on a little mount that the rear plugs are held to.
once the whole system is hanging there with the bolts removed we had to lift the rear section of the exhaust and get it out of the way and pull backward on the stock h pipe to remove it. Mind you one of the studs came out with the nut so i dont know if that made things any easier. The write up i read said you had to remove them both but i have obviously proven that its not the case.
you'll need a second pair of hands to maneuver the stock H pipe out of the hole its in. it was kinda rough to get out but it did eventually come out with some twisting.
once you get the pipe out. transfer all the mounting hardware over along with the sensors, if your re using them.
for my system i had two green plugs in the front and a blue/purple plug in the rear for my o2 sensors. all color coded so its pretty easy to get it right.
the H pipe I installed was a 2 piece design ( many of you may have recently seen it on the WSRC ). thing was super easy to install... if any of you ever install one like this make sure you leave EVERY THING loose untill the whole thing is pieced together in location.
to get the rear pieces level the way they are supposed to be we used a small scissor jack under the H to get it in place and hold it there while we tightened the system up. Plugged in the sensors and we were finished.
Boom! all done. clean up, get the car on the ground and start her up
Special thanks to o2GT for initial help.
Super big things to Joker.
Even bigger thanks to Step on Mii for letting me borrow her tool
