Everyone, I'll be installing another set of gears on 13 December at NAS Miramar. YES, everyone can get on the base; one of us will check you in. I'll be installing a new LSD (limited slip differential) and gears.

I'll be setting backlash, shimming bearings and setting the preload on the pinion. If you want to know how to change out your own gears and save 400-600 dollars, come on by. Bigbluedog is the member that will be hitting the lift and changing out his 8.8 internals.

We always start installs at 9am and let me know if you need to get on the base. I'll be checking him in at 8:30am.

Hmm, maybe this would be a good time to do my 4.30's?

Bring it on, working two sets of gears wont take any longer then accomplishing one set.

I might stop by also. Interested to see how much easier it's installing gears on a new edge or foxbody than an S197. I know Dustin and Richard over at CPR were cussing after doing my gear install.

Bump. Talked to Bigbluedog last night and he has all the material to get the gears done. This time I will talk through a couple of the procedures to ensure everyone understands the measurements and shimming procedures.
