Guys this should be a good event. Lets make a good showing of our stangs and bring a few out and run. We also need to keep in mind this is a 2 day event so we need to get a hotel reservation for at least sat night if you go up sat morning early. Friday will be test and tune for the event. Just keep it on your planner should be fun. Remember this is a 1/4 mile track!

Mustang Maddness is a "Open Comp Style" class that is designed for all Ford Powered Mustangs that run slower than 8.50 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The "Mustang Maddness" class will be run on an Open Comp format with a 1-tenth (1/10th) breakout. What this means is, you get 3 rounds of qualifying. You take 1/10th off your quickest time and that is your automatic dial-in for eliminations. This time will be yours throughout eliminations (it does not change). The best reaction time is the #1 qualifier, you will then be put on a Sportsman ladder for eliminations. There is basically no rules in this class, so come out and have some fun.
this is run a pro tree so... any one can run this class if you have a V-6 that runs 17.32 sec in the 1/4 you can still win.... i think it would fun to run the 1/4.

Wow im way lost...how can a slow car win? Is it all reaction time? Not many of our cars run 10.6 or faster....

It is all about being consistant! If you dial in a 11.0 and run 11.015 all night you will probably win. Now if you run a 13 in one of the runs you might as well kiss your butt good bye. You basically get you dial in time, then they take 1/10th away so you cant sand bag and then you try to get that time all night long. It does not matter how fast your car is.....only how many times you can run what your dial in was! Does that make sense?

Its does I just thought the only times were 10.6 9.6 and so on. Depending on if im underway I would spectate... Maybe try and convince my dad to get the cobra out of the garage.

Open Comp format is like bracket racing, but instead of selecting your own dial, your dial-in is based on your best time in qualifying, minus a tenth. If you ran 12.56, 12.62, and 12.49 in qualifying, your index would be 12.39 for eliminations.

It's also run on a three-amber "Pro" tree, instead of a sportsman tree where the lights come down one at a time. It's also a .400 tree, meaning that .400 seconds elapse between the three ambers and the green, instead of the .500 between lights like you have with a sportsman tree. Learn to deep-stage...

The secret to being successful in Open Comp-style classes is learning how to detune your car in qualifying so that you can pick up that tenth on Sunday and run the number. Since I am pretty good at fender racing, I'll get out of the gas at the 1000-foot mark in qualifying and coast through the finish, which usually adds 1.2-1.5 to my time because my car is so freaking slow. Your results may vary.

There's a T&T at Barona on Sunday the 22nd, and they're pretty good about giving you a pro tree if you ask for one. If anybody wants to practice, maybe we can set something up and I can give some coaching for those who'd like it.

i think they run pro tree in lane 1 or 2 whenever i race there.

Yep. You can also kind of game the system by writing "400 pro tree" on your windshield and stay in the regular T&T lanes, and not have to line up against rails or back-half cars. You just have to ask the guy running the lanes first.
