spring question

so i was messing around under my car today and i looked at my springs in the rear and found that my drivers side spring is mesed up. i noticed awhile ago that my car sat lower on that side so i figured today i would look at it. i have the eibach drag springs with the airbag and it looks like the top of the coil is crushed together and the airbag just runs up half of it. is it possible to get just one spring to replace it? or even fix it, or do i have to order a whole new set??

BJ for your car, I would go to the local Junk Yard and get a V6 mustang Spring for the rear. Get reid of those Eibach Drag Springs.

how are they better? i just dont understand how a stock spring can be better than a spring designed for racing. i am going to check into some reviews on the eibachs. not that i dont belive you, i just want to get the best part possible. also, if i do go with a v6 spring will that lift up my back end?

BJ it's not thats it better, it just a better weight transfer. Read Below:
Progressive Rate vs. Linear Rate Springs - Many customers ask what the difference is between Progressive and Linear rate springs. A linear rate spring has a constant spring rating, no matter how much the spring is compressed, for example 600lb/in. This means that for every 600 pounds of pressure, there will be 1 inch of spring compression. A progressive rate spring will have a variable spring rate, for example 425-630lb/in. This means that it may take 425 pounds for 1 inch of compression, but as the spring compresses more it will rise to as much as 630 pounds of pressure. To put it simply, the spring "progressively" gets stiffer as it is compressed.

Stock Spring Rates
Model/Year Front Spring Rate (lb/in) Rear Spring Rate (lb/in)
  • Mustang GT/V6 Coupe 1994-2004 450 (linear) 210 (linear, solid axle)
  • Mustang GT/V6 Vert. 1994-2004 400 (linear) 185 (linear, solid axle)
  • Mustang Cobra Coupe 1999-2001 500 (linear) 475 (linear, IRS)
  • Mustang Cobra Coupe 2003-2004 600 (linear) 600 (linear, IRS)
  • Mustang Cobra Vert. 2003-2004 500 (linear) 470 (linear, IRS)
  • Mustang Mach1 Coupe 2003-2004 600 (linear) 250 (linear, solid axle)
  • Mustang Bullitt Coupe 2001-2002 600 (linear) 250 (linear, solid axle)

It all depends on the ft lb of the springs. The lower the number the softer the ride with less control. The higher the number the rougher the ride but more control. I had 350lb on the front and it bounced, lack of control but a soft ride. Put 650lb, had more control, less body roll, but felt like is was riding in the back of a 5 ton truck.

You won't find the rate of the Eibach Drag Springs. And about your fenders you can rent the tool from this company. http://www.rollyourfender.com/
Also do a search there are many techniques to doing it.

okay....another suspension question. when i was under the car today i noticed that i was missing something. on the drivers side i have a white shock that runs almost horizontally off the alxe up under the body, but it was removed on the passenger side. anyone know why someone would do this, and how important is it to have it on there??

Do you mean the quad shock / Axle damper? Remove it to put a larger tire.
