Again, it depends on the color / quality you want. You can get 90+% there with just masking tape & newspaper. Otherwise, the pony does come off the grille...you just have to remove the radiator cover to get to it.

yea i know all that, but what did you use as far as paint goes??

Ears; = I used VHT "Night Shade" ... just 2 very light coats to get a black chrome effect.

RAGE - BAD KITTY; = you shouldn't have to remove the radiator, just the plastic cover on top of it, front-center. It's mounted w/ about 8 (?) push-pins... use a small screwdriver type tool to lift the center 'pin', then the 'washer'-looking part underneath it... it's all one piece. real easy to do and they're cheap if one happens to break (not likely though...)
I'll see if I can find some pictures to post.

Then you should be able to reach the back of the pony which -should- be mounted to the grille w/ a few speed nuts...

Here's the piece I'm talking about (plus the aftermarket extensions in this ad...). you can see the [6] push-pins, the hood bumpers and the prop-rod clips... it's called the radiator -cover-

Hey there is two ways to do this and they are SUPER easy.

1st one is to remove the pony and paint, and replace done - you'll be down a day or so waiting for the paint to dry. Takes less then 10 minutes to remove. The place that did ours rocked and they are fast and warranty their work. I thought it cost $85 but Myztry says it was like $78 but not sure.

Well I pulled off the pushpins (With screwdriver gently pry up on center of pin, when it's all the way up with your hand grab the outside ring and pull it out)
Grill is held on with clips. (you'll be able to see them clear now).

Or leave grill on and do next step:

Take grill and tape off pony, if your pony is chrome now, do not sand, use Krylon Fusion (Walmart) it bonds to plastic... light coats, turns out sweet..
Did mine with flat black

Not sure how it will look if you just paint the pony and leave all else chrome... But I guess you'll find out . Good luck!

hay bd mach,,, dont want to be annoying,,, but how did you safely remove the side badges wo breaking them,,, then reinstall them,,, ensuring they wont pop back out!!!

Fishing line around the badge to break the glue. Pop them out and when you reinstall a little glue on the backing

The glue holds them in, the holes are just for alignment
