While i was on deployment I wrote a couple companies with my mods list and my idea of a bulletproof T-76 turbo'd cobra they all pretty much wrote me back all were thankful for my service and all gave great info these are their responses:
Hellion Power Systems and Turbo Kits:
Mr. Van Patten,
First off, let me thank you on behalf of all of us here at Hellion for serving our country and allowing us to continue this hobby of ours. Also, I'd like to thank you for your interest/compliments regarding our kits, we appreciate it.
Now, regarding the car - I looked over the sheet you attached, and it looks as if you have a great start on your hands. First and foremost as far as engine modifications go, the absolute most important thing to do is to build the bottome end of the engine as strong as possible. This is especially important with a forced induction setup, such as our kit. This will yield the best results, and provide you with the most fun/longevity from the car/kit.
Now, everything besides the shrotblock would be considered secondary, especially on a Cobra. The 4-valve heads that come on thse cars flow incredibly well for a stock head, however, if you spend a little time and money to have them ported, they will flow nearly as much as a 302-based race cylinder head, or over 300 CFM. This kind of head flow is a good thing to have with a forced induction car, as the more air that you can get through the engine, the less boost you have to run in order to make power, which increases longevity.
Any of the mainstream manufacturers/distributors of Mustang parts will be able to help you out with engine performance parts. However, I would reccommend Livernois Motorsports as a great place to get your engine components, as well as your head porting. Also, BOSS 330 Racing is a good company to go to, as well as Modular Depot. Any one of these companies with have the parts for your engine on the shelf, and all of them are about the same in price.
With these Cobra engines, not a lot of engine parts (i.e. camshafts, cylinder head work, etc...) is really required to make a lot of power. You could simply build up the shortblock to handle the power, and probably make 800+ to the tires, no problem.
I hope this helps with your questions, if not, feel free to contact us the next time you get a chance, and we'll be happy to help you out with anything else you need.
Thanks again.
