Why not wait until you get back to the U.S before buying a car. While in Italy, try to save some money towards a bigger down payment.

Just a thought, I was in Germany for 2 yrs. I bought a $2000 BMW that lasted me the whole time I was there. Then when I was leaving I sold it to a buddy who was staying longer for the same price I paid for it.

Have you compared insurance rates among the cars? I know 03-04 SVTs are expensive to insure. I pay $530 every 6mths for full coverage on my 06 Mustang. If I had an 03-04 termi, my insurance would be $780 for the same coverage.
