CHULA VISTA – A woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle as she was walking to church has been identified as Teresa McClelland, 50, of Chula Vista, the Medical Examiner's Office said Thursday.
McClelland was crossing Palomar Street just after 7 p.m. Wednesday and was not in a crosswalk when she was hit by a car heading west, Chula Vista police said.
She was taken by air to a hospital, where she died from her injuries at 8:24 p.m., an investigator with the Medical Examiner's Office said.
The driver of the car, a man in his mid-40s, was not injured and was not cited, police said.
The Medical Examiner's Office said that McClelland was married and that she worked at a restaurant at North Island Naval Air Station.
Police said she was on her way to the International Christian Center on Third Avenue when she was hit.
