From other post I have read, unless your F/I you don't need an aftermarket T/B. Most people run into problems with them.

T/B might be a good performance upgrade on the 04 and bellow stangs, but not really on the S197.

Even in 04 and below mustangs, it's not that much of an improvement in HP..........maybe some in throttle response. They are best left for forced induction applications.

If you were wanting to go with a larger TB, I'd go with the Shelby GT 500 with the adaptor plate kit but unless you are going FI you will probably not see much if any gain( you will need to retune and besides I'm still using my stock piece and pushing 487 at the rear wheels so with an N/A system it is not a bottleneck to airflow). If you were to do anything I would suggest a one piece Aluminum d/s and a set of gears, the OEM Driveshaft weighs 56 Lbs. compared to a 17lb aftermarket shaft(no retune required). a set of 3.73's or 4.10's are a real good first mod but you will need a hand held tuner to change the ratio in the pcm. Headers are a waste for the same reason as the Throttle body, However a set of the CMCV Delete plates will help a bit(with a retune of course) as well as a set of NSR Camshafts (yes retune should be done). Personally I'd go with an electric water pump kit and the Driveshaft then the gears and start beefing up the rear suspension with Lower control arms and an adjustable upper control arm- you may need this piece with the Driveshaft but thats my opinion. BTW you can get the Shelby TB kit from MMR for around 399.00 and comes with everything.

I am not dis-aggree'n with you guys but I have got to say that I have felt a considerable amount of change with every throttle body swap I have ever done. You might not gain the 20HP that is advertised but my GOD does the throttle response always just seem to be like night and day. Match that up with a good CAI and you will be very happy. It is a must for any sort of Forced Induction so why does everyone shut it out???? I think you will be happy and I highly suggest any T-Body from Accufab. I have used them on my last three vehicles and currently run one on my Cobra. Just my .02!!!!!

I sell parts every day, but if this guy came to the shop and wanted a TB for his 05 up N/A car, I would tell him the same thing I've said here. I can tweak his tune on the FBW TB and get him the same throttle response!
It's just not needed and he will need it to be tuned.

FYI............Accufab had HUNDREDS of FBW throttlebodies sitting on the shelves last year and would not sell them. They had metal gears and had binding problems. I talked with George a bit this weekend and they replaced them with stock Ford style gears.

Good info to know. Is this just an 05 and above issue?

As far as the tuning part, most assuredly. HP gains on 2V and 4V 96-04 v-8 N/A have been VERY minimal unless it's a major bolt on car with ported intake and even some cams.
Even given that, my stock long block Mach1 engine made just over 350 rwhp on pump gas with ALL the bolt ons and my extensive refinement of my tune thru diligent datalogging.

how about a set of cams? not to agressive what would u recomend

Comp Cams stage one or two.......the ones that don't require spring change.

If you install a cam that requires a spring change, you MUST install the phosor LOCK OUTS.......not the limiters. This most important on the 05-07 models, but applies to the full line of 3V engines.
