Toys For Tots Car Show Planning

This thread is to be used for the planning of the Toys for Tots Car Show tentativly scheduled for Dec 20th. I have already talked to the No Dues Cruisers and they are "in" as well.

Here are some of my plans for the car show thus far:

Some of my plans include of course having Marines and Sailors present to collect the toys. Inviting other local area car clubs as well as doing other advertising. Getting sponsors to help pay for the show IE trophies and raffle prizes. Possibly a DJ depending on location and expected number of people at the show. Plan to have it at either Walmart or Target parking lots (easy access for people to buy toys and donate them). Thinking of having the registration fee be a toy donation. Sound good??

That sounds like an awesome idea, but what will you have to do to get approval to have a show in target or wal-mart's parking lot? Any reason why you picked the 20th? I was just thinking that's a little close to X-mas. Let us know, I'm in..

You all are of course welcome to come but its a 5 hour drive for you. I will talk to the store managers to get permission as well as maybe the owners of the shopping plaza. These store stand to make profit from our show since people attending will most likely by from the closest store to the show.

The date I picked was 20 DEC but I am waiting for word from Walmart. This date may not work for them. But as soon as I get some more solid info I will let you all know.

Q1: Its about 1 hour or so north of Bakersfield.

Q2: The owner of the Target plaza will not allow car shows. I already tried. Thanks for the offer though. That is the kind of motivation we need to get this thing off the ground.

Also, I got word from Walmart today and unfortunatly they said no........ Minor set back, I will be writing K-mart in Lemoore a letter on Monday. I know Raul used to work there so maybe he has a managerial hook up there. I will keep you all posted.

Hey everyone, I keep running into dead ends on this car show. What do you all think about showing up in force to the Tots for Tots Car show in Fresno on the 8th on NOV. Maybe we could even ask our family members for toy donations and we could roll up there with all of our trunks full of toys. Let me know what you all think....
