yeah i that sounds like a good idea considering the car has some miles on it. Plus the oem cable can probably be found cheaper then the aftermarket ones.

Most of the above is crap!!!!!!!! Yes if you replace the clutch with a high performance clutch/Pressure Plate/ Thow out bearing it is highly recommended to replace the cable. It is not because the cable is stronger but most if not all aftermarket ones are ADJUSTABLE. The fire wall adjuster is just easier since you dont have to crawl under the car to do it and you can fine tune it for optimal performance. Now the hunk of crap plastic quadrant that comes in our cars is trash. They will hold up fine with factory clutches but as soon as you up the pressure with like a King Cobra, Center Force, or Mcloud the plastic teeth will tear themselves to pieces trying to mesh together and you will push the clutch in...hear a pop and either be stuck in gear or not able to go into gear because you clutch cable will NOT work. If you have the extra cabbage replace all of it at once. I think I bought mine off of Emerson for 120 bucks or somewhere around that. Money well spent.
