what a week.

for some reason WRX's and Sti's have been wanting to play with me a few times this week. on sunday a blue Sti pulls up next to me on the 805 north, drops it in gear so i can notice him. Gives me the hand signal to run. i put it in 3rd and honk three times{he takes off on the second honk} never the less i caught him by 80 mph and continued to put 3-4 lengths till 120. in the end he gave me the thumbs up and went on his way.

on thursday, i was on Lst in Chula Vista when a grey wrx does a fly by on me.
i just ignored him cause i'm at a 1/4 tank of gas. he slowed down to my speed{about 40} and kept giving it gas so i could hear the turbo blow-off. after about 20 seconds of that i put it in 2nd and took off. i dunno if he was running cause it didn't look like it in my rear view mirror.
i slowed and he wouldn't get next to me after that

wow only v6 mines a v6 too, but not sure if i run this svt focus, or Honda accord v6 they are both 04 and up mines stock 2000 3.8L so should i run them? you guys tell me

oh and the accord has exhaust system, and svt has intake and exhaust, and not sure what else he has, but i know he has more stuff done to it

if you have a stock v6 3.8, the accord will RAPE you. don't let that honda emblem on that accord fool you. if it was a four banger accord, you may have a chance, but the v6 models are quick. i think they'll keep up with 99-04 gt's. the focus should have you too.

a stock v6 mustang is SLOW. trust me, i know. it's not worth racing anything faster than a kia with a stock v6 mustang pre - 05.

to the op, good kills. don't know what 05+ v6's can do, so i'll take your word for it.

edit:

okay don't wanna raise the :bs: flag on the original poster, but have you done any mods on your 4.0 v6? i like taking people's words, but you raced up to 120? without mods? you do know the governor on a stock 4.0 v6 mustang will limit you to only 113-115mph, right? kinda like on a stock mach with a governor, i'm limited to hitting 144-146mph.


again, i'm going by what i see in your signature. if you've had mods done, list them. unless you like being secretive. :lol:

I've personally gone over 120mph in a 2000 V6 Mustang.... bone stock. Don't see why Ford would not let them go over 120 now... I don't know for sure though

my 04 v6 topped out at 115... BEFORE my gears. when i saw he raced to 120, i thought nothing of it since i've hit those speeds in my mach. then i saw he had a 4.0. 99% of all cars from factory have governors on them. which is why we have hand held tuners to take away those rev limiters and governors.

also, the thing that doesn't make sense to me... stock a 4.0 runs 15.7's to 15.3's in the quarter mile.

with a bad driver, stock wrx's are hitting 14.7's.



i think it's even worse to race one from a roll as that turbo is most likely spooled up. acceleration in a stock v6 mustang also isn't that great. esp. against a turbo car. to get to where the v6 mustang governor hits, it takes a stock wrx just 25 secs.


and that's from 0.

a 4.0 v6, does it in roughly 36 seconds.


i really don't like throwing out the :bs: flag, but if you look at the facts... unless that wrx had a HORRID driver that mis-shifted really badly or had a catastrophic failure. a stock 4.0 putting 3-4 lengths on one is kinda hard to swallow.

sti's are pretty stout ill give you that they used to give me a run for my moneys......im pretty stock tho too

i'm not out to hate... i'm just looking at facts compared to story given and something's not adding up. i'm pretty sure i can also talk to some other people who'll question the legitimacy of a stock 4.0 putting 3-4 cars on a wrx as well.

i mean, i put 6 lengths on a gallardo from a roll on the I5 coming back from fun ford (with just a catback as my only mod on my mach). problem is, i was in the fast lane and he was heading on the off-ramp. :eek:

now, he could have a factory beast with no governor on it... we may never know. but if he has a stock 4.0 that'll run with stock gt's, never give it up bro! :cool:

edit:

i just noticed that the wrx driver ALSO got the jump and a stock 4.0 chased him down and blew by the wrx and put 3-4 lengths to 120. seriously, knowing the performance of both cars... SOMETHING doesn't add up. either the driver of the wrx shut it down early (as by 80mph, the mustang JUST caught up), was HORRID, or wasn't even racing.

i know phil's gt is FAR from stock. when'd he do this?

we're talking about a stock 4.0 rolling a wrx that had a jump. even if the wrx is stock, something doesn't add up.

also, i don't have a badass car. my mach is an auto with a catback and a jlt. it's far from fast itself. i know i have a ways to go before i'll consider my car badass. it's a head turner and an awesome car, yes... but to keep up with even a manual mach, i have work ahead of me.

actually yesterday, fangs, renegade and myself were talking about what is considered bolt-ons. mostly ANY mod you do on a car can be considered a bolt on. cause well, even forced induction you "bolt-on"... so someone running a "full bolt-on" car could be running a LOT of things.

no worries, i get it all the time. i just like messing with people. still need to dyno tuned
