That is just a california thing.. In the midwest we dont use tire chains at all. If its that bad we use ATV or snow mobiles to get around. 9 out of 10 times though 4x4 will work fine

Albert are you going up by yourself? You going to brave the grapevine in your stang or take long route around? I wouldnt mind going up at same time with you and driving as well. I got a couple of buddies I like to see up there let me know ok

Phil i'm from Colorado, the grapevine is a joke! I won't drive the stang cause i won't put chains on it. My buddy messed his stang up with chains before.

My owners manual for the SS says not to use chains.

POUYA, read what I wrote!

They at times make chains mandatory! It doesnt come down to ego. If you have them, you can continue, if not then turn around. If you are in Big bear and they then make it mandatory, you will have to pay a hell of alot more than anywhere else for them.
