Wondering about my heads.

I swapped my broke tranny for a set of stock PI heads and a PI intake and 99+ front timing cover. I wonder if I should port and polish them to max with bigger valves. I already have cams and springs with cam gear adjusters. I wonder If that will be good for me or just sell them as a pi swap and use the money to buy trick flow heads. I think I have a friend that will port them for a challenge. Hes never ported mustang heads. He normally ports honda heads. But he can match the port to the gasket. That way I can get the max flow possible. If i port them heads. I would be saving $2000 that I can put towards the purchase of the supergarger.

You will get more out of the supercharger then you ever will with the trickflow heads.

i think you'll be better off with TFS heads in the end, but if your budget is the limit i would just port em, i saw on another sight a guy made 603 on the motor with the tfs heads, 13#'s of boost from a v-2 si trim, with stage 1 tfs cams, stock pi intake and a after cooler these heads are worth every penny IMO....

Well if I get the tick flow heads, Ill still supercharge eventually. Just push it back a little while. I will be able to make an all motor pass with the new heads just to see. Then Ill keep the 150 shot till I go to a supercharger. If I'm making 290 hp now. About how much na you think I'll pick up. And how much more over ported heads are the trick flows.

theres a couple of guys that are making 325(with minor bolt ons and off the shelf cams) and one that i know made 350 through ported TFS heads with mild cams and a auto tranny. I personally think i would go with the heads and run the No2 and later down the road you can put a blower on it, they only thing i would get rid of the cams and have custom set made because they are designed for PI heads, you can get away with a more aggressive cam profile then the 278's....

Yeh, If I go with the TFS, Ill get new cams. How much you think ported pi heads with my cams with crower spings and titanium retainers and fidanza cam gear adjusters would go for? I might sell them with a pi intake. Does the TFS come with valve covers or does it use the same bolts as the pi head valve covers do.

i think you could get about about 1200 to 1500 for the heads. cams, and accessories, thats pretty reasonable, as far as the covers either 13 or 11 bolt covers will work for the tfs heads...

I am definately porting my PI heads. I am doing a PI swap on my car this year , and cant afford aftermarket heads. I have the heads sitting in the building & a lot more time than I do money. I have ported small block heads before but never PI heads.

Im no pro or anything I have watched porting being done & played around with my own heads before. Since I dont have to be in a hurry I figure I might as well do a little work to my PI heads before I put them on.
