Work tools

Why ya treat me like that?
I need a speciality tool for my work. (I know haha haha)

I bought one today but it is not exactly correct. Not long enough and not "pipe deep" enough. ( I know haha haha) Bought it as an example to show someone who may be able to make me a better ( and less expensive) one.

It is a tool used to take core samples of soil and to check water drainage and absorption.

It is shaped like a "T". Basically a piece of metal with a hole in the bottom and not quite 1/2 of the pipe cut out so I can see the soil.

Does this make sense? So, need someone who can cut metal and weld the T handle on the top.

Please let me know. I need one ASAP.

Thanks
fs

OK. So I repeated myself and didn't get the rest.

Here are the specs of this piece of caca: "T handle" 6 1/ "

"Pipe'? 3/4"

Shaft: 20 1/4 long

"Cut out" : 19" long

Closed bottom end:2"

Welding: The worst I have ever seen!

WHAT I NEED:

T HANDLE 8": one that will not break or even crack.

3/4 PIPE OK. 1" is good too.

SHAFT: 32" LONG

CUT OUT: 19 - 20"

CLOSED BOTTOM END: 2" But the End end of the bottom is open so I can collect the soil. Don't know if I explained that correctly. :)

I do not know what metal has been used or what gague.

I need to be able to go down full shaft and NOT have the shaft bend or break. Or the handle. Or the closed bottom.

I test all types of soil from "store bought" to clay, to Granite to Kyrptonite.

I check water absorption levels an for underground insects.

I also use it to find footings around houses and fences.

I also use it to measure "things" with and keep crew in line. LOL

If you would like to see this piece of caca I can show it to you. All the edges of metal are splintered and sharp. The handle is crooked. It MUST be on the mark level. Shaft MUST be straight.

I had one that was a magnificent piece of craftsmanship but someone stole it!

*******! I paid a large penny for it. I only have smaller pennies right now but I REALLY need this tool. If you need to see it let us do it soon because I will be returning this sorry excuse for a tool.

Well to me it looks as though they went with too thin of metal for one, especially if you are gonna be twisting it. But I could be wrong on that. The welding, it appears that they didnt prep it correctly, that looks like some kind of galvanized metal. If so, you have to grind down the galvanized coating to get a real good weld. That would explain the welds not looking good. I think they are plenty strong enough though. Just cause a weld doesnt look good doesntmean it isnt strong. I would rather have ugly welds that hold than pretty welds that are weak. I wont attempt to make it as I dont have the tools to do it right.....There are all kinds of welding shops around that you can have fabricate that.

I agree with you on the appearance of the weld but the rest of the tool would not be able to handle what I do. BOOHOO I REEEEEEAAAAAALLLLLLYYYYYneed it.

not true. if it is ugly it is more than likely contaminated, i.e. atmosphere penetrated the weld and caused porosity and slag being trapped inside the weld under the surface. :hello:

If I had the metal I could make it. I do however know someone who could make it. But I would have to get with him on monday.
