The dreaded clutch issue

Smelled a burning acrid smell twice after normal operation this last week. Friday night did a high rpm shift from 2nd to 3rd gear and the clutch went towards the floor without additional pressure...I came off of the throttle and the clutch returned to the netural position (towards the driver). Smelled the same bad burning smell. Took it to Kearny Pearson in San Diego...they'd better not screw this up. Ford is looking for a serious safety issue class action.

Very typical of these cars. I hate the hydraulic clutch and for good reason. :nonono:

did you see any leaks under the car? If not it could have been what I was reading about with the hydraulic oil getting too hot or the line swelling due to heat causing this situation after some "spirited" driving. I think this is the article from blue collar performance:

They have a recall I will look for it..

DrunkFatGuy - I didn't see any leaks, but then again I wasn't aware I might need to look for them...so not really sure if it was leaking. Anyway, got the car back today. The clutch is firm and there is no more clunking sound from the rear end area. Seems to be working just fine. I'll post any updates if that changes.
