Why would you be out for the bolts already.....yose said they are good for 8-10 times being torqued before they are stretched and such.

yes gibs!! youre right!! opposite of tightening for the loosening procedure!! im gonna take off the valve cover and take a look at those bolts then after i assess the situation ill determine whether or not new bolts are needed, or the head should come off all together!!

no gibs,,, all head bolts are 1 time use!!! 8 out of ten times they wont torque properly if you re use the bolts!!!

yup!!! very possible!!! but if it ends up bein the gasket then ill be out 50 bucks for bolts!! but im willing to go that rout first!! save some more time and heart ache!!!

and yea orange i read what you wrote,,, i never actually thought about it like that though!!! i alwayse thought that with ported heads air will flow better regardless of blower or not!!! it makes sence though, but honestly i dont see how i would lose anything with it?? at very least yea i may lose a bit of pressure from the blower, but wouldnt it equal itself out because the heads would be ported, thus flow a bit better??? i dont really know so im asking!!

What you will lose is your money. You can port the heads if that's what you want to do and ultimately you will make more power in the end, but it will likely require a smaller pulley to achieve your desired boost level. What power range are you looking for? You may be able to reach your goals without porting is all I was saying.

I went from a 302 to a 331 with a centri blower and lost 2-3lbs of boost.

OOPS!!!! Read that wrong.......LOL

I reused the headbolts for mine.......they were not the issue though......They worked just fine. But in a high HP motor I am sure it means more than a stock 302.....

well right now i seem to be running a constant 21 psi on my d1!! so losing a few psi wouldnt kill me!!! but in the end im lookin for probably about 700 hp right now!!! once my car is up and running it may change!!! thats just the number for now, im sure once i feel the pull i may be fine w 500 for now,,, but later well see where she ends up!!!

yea just a bit!!! but i have bn strongly warned by everyone to never re use the head bolts in these heads because the torquing sequence is so hard on the bolts,, they stretch like a mo fo!!!

there are two types of head bolts, Torque to yield... and a ARP style that is a reusable type... NEVER EVER EVER reuse a stock head bolt.... the torque to yield (stock head bolts) is a bolt that is torqued then stretched (normally torqued to say 90 ft lbs, then 1/2 or 1/4 turn after). if you are using ARP bolts (not studs) i wouldn't use them more then 2 to 3 torque downs... because of the stretch of the threads form being torqued down.. especial on a Boosted engine! A oil leak in between the block and head is a gasket... hands down.. even if you didn't torque one bolt done just right... it wouldn't leak..
