i heard 373 actually gets you better gas mileage. But it prolly depends on how you drive. I live 410s but i have 373s now.

Like Emilio said.... Don't fear the gear....

When most are pouring hundreds and even thousands of dollars into other mods, fuel consumption is irrelevant. Doesn't matter. Heck, these Stangs weren't bought to rival a Prius were they ????? If your fuel consumption goes up by 3% you pay it anyway right? Most peoples monthly rent goes up with cost of living annually or bi-annually, and it gets paid anyway

Yes it's a shame that all this new technology isn't getting people anywhere. Top drag racers are still using those old pushrod motors....hmmmmmm

as far as gears and gas mileage, i can tell you my opinion. in my stone wheeles fox i have 4.10s and its all in how you drive it. around town with a heavy foot i am lucky to get 12-15mpg, but when we go on cruises, even though my engine is at 3,000+ the whole time, i still get about 25mpg. i second emilios motion to NOT FEAR THE GEAR!

Great info!

Like people say on here and I repeat. Don't fear the gear!

Go Big or don't go at all!

Couldn't agree more, Danny!

On our trip from San Diego to Knotts, we fluctuated on speed a lot going TO Knotts, so, I couldn't get a good feel for the gas mileage with my 4:10s. We were constantly slowing down, speeding up...couldn't really set the cruise and get a good fix. This was the first road trip since I installed the gears.

But on the way back, about 100 miles, more or less, I had a lot of time in cruise control at 75mph and with an automatic trans, averaged 18.6 mpg. I was stoked since I thought it would be worse. And that was with the AC on all the way. It was 90 degrees plus that day. Stock 3:31 gears gave me about 23 mpg, so this wasn't too big of a hit for all the performance I had gained.

Can a pushrod win?

Is it just me or does it seem that almost every heads up class that allows modulars, are winning? Look at the results for the first 2 races.

Factory Stock
Pure Street
Real Street
EFI renegade
Drag Radial

All won by modular combos…

Coincidence?
Are the Modular racers just better?
Do the modular combos have a rules advantage in every class?

I mean I know the NMRA throws bait to all modular combos to get Modular racers involved, but what gives?

Anyone else notice this or just me????

I work on more modular cars then pushrod cars so I’m not hatin’, but it doesn’t seem to pay to run a pushrod anymore.

Just my thoughts….JB

Fastest Drag Radial Mustang in the World

I think all the Modular setups need a weight break. Just think of all the time "you" pushrod guys have had for R&D in the past 20+ years

Wow...... just think how fast a flat head v-8 could go. (70 + years of R&D)

the MOD motor would get owned... and the fastest MOD motor is only a 7 second pass on drag radials... there are people in the outlaw class running much faster then that with drag radials... with a limit of 10. 5 tire... not just any radial tire size!!
