I wish my knees were well enough to go to DI school. I have gotten hit up on the HRST list the last two years but this year we are deploying and cant get selected.

Some great posts already. I joined the Army while I was still in high school because the Army recuitor was the first to talk to me. All I knew at the time was I wanted out of my house. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I later after 18 months joined the Navy and wish I had done that in the first place. I was a grunt and training to kill and felt like a ROCK. Fast forward 15 years later I am still Navy and looking forward to retiring. I have been stationed in Texas, South Carolina, Sicily, 2 years in the Middle East and been to alot of places for temporary active duty. Been on 4 minehunters and on my second minesweeper now. Shore duty is sweet, sea duty sucks. I love the fact that I have seen some beautiful places while on sea duty though. Soon I will be stationed in San Diego and I look forward to that very much. I have alot of pride in who I am as a person due to my experiences in the Military. I have alot to be proud of and followed in the foot steps of my dad and grandfather. Even though one was a Marine and one Airforce. Even if you didn't make a career out of it I would say give 4 years a shot and see what ya like. You can go to school in the meantime which is practically free. Look at all your options, do your research..make a choice. -Shane
