Important Race Car Meeting

GT400SC

PM for Decals

Excellent posts!

One from HOT ROD magazine who I might add has DEEP POCKETS! We don't!

And another link to another site that has a TON more money than we do.

And I'll bet a million dollars that NEITHER of these two huge organizations picked THIS complex of a project for their very first forray into drag racing, right?

Don't get me wrong, the 32V in a Fox is indeed a BITCHIN' idea. And I will whole-heartedly support what the club wants to do. It really doesn't matter to me. I am 110% behind whatever decision is reached.

But how can we fund TWO motors? Why was I told the 32V was temporary while we built a small block and that we'd run the 32V "until it blows up"? If the REAL GOAL was a small block all along, why are we starting with something 10 times harder?

Is it REALLY the smartest thing to start with the HARDEST project FIRST?

"It's cool"

"It's wicked"

These are not logical thoughts.

Give me the damn wiring diagrams and get the stuff needed(Connectors, mounts, etc) and I will wire the damn thing up if that is what it is missing......It isnt that hard to follow long lines and connect **** the way it needs to be.

I say stay with the 4.6 for now.......run it til it breaks kind of thing. While doing this, we will be building the other RACE MOTOR for when that happens. Just a thought.

I will help with procurement as soon as I get back and get caught up on stuff.......I can not do it full time though like Yose said.....I am on shore duty right now but still have long days and classes and such that take time away....not to mention a family too.

^^^ I don't have a problem with that but what will the broken motor be worth after we break it instead of the $1500 it's worth now?

Boat anchor!

This whole situation is what it is, but why was this not a "club" decision from the get go? In my opinion it wasn't very well thought out. Last I heard the car was donated and that was the reason for doing this............... it was free!

Now I'm hearing that this car was purchased for $300 when all this time I thought that this was actually Xavier's car all along that was on it's way to the scrap yard if we didn't take it.

Everyone knows that I'm the biggest pushrod fan on this site and that will not change, but depending on how close this car actually is I say F*ck it! Just stick with this thing and get it going.

On the other hand if there is still way too much cost and BS to deal with I say ditch this thing and go with what we know works. Who gives a sh*t if it's another 302 -351w? They are fast as hell anyway you build them. I have yet to see a mod motor WITHOUT a BLOWER be fast.

This will surely need N20 :)

N2O is cheaper then any built 302 or 351W.... if you want to be fast thats what it will take... a built 302 or 351W... when all it might take is a 32v with a little bit of bottle....

Wondering where I am!?!?
I can't make the meeting since I am in the "Frozen Tundra" of Washington State!

Can I ask a question or two, maybe three?

1. Who is going to be driving this car once it is done?

2. Isn't that the person that we should be asking the questions?

My opinion, you just don't build a car, throw a driver into it, then throw another driver into it and expect results.

What is it you guys want to do and what is your expectations?

Last but not least, I saw a lot of WS cars at Barona.

Who is willing, in this Club, to give up their ride to drive this WS Race car?

EDIT:

If this is going to be a "Club Car", who is going to pay for the Test and Tune and actual Races?

Guys and Gals, there is a lot to think about!

Well, you have all made really good points, and I do agree that a 32Valve motor would be awesome, It will take some discussion, but if we decide to do the 32v, we need to stick with it, who knows, maybe we can get a supercharger sponsorship.

Let me see if I can shed some light to those that were not around when the car was first purchased.

1) The car is a "Club Car". Therefore, all expenses come from the club.
2) People that contribute to the car, through finances or busting nuckles are eligible to drive the car.
3) Expectation is to build a car and have fun with it, not to argue or be concerned about the fastest car in the country.

This project car is an opportunity to experiment, get our club name on a drag car and plaster our sponsors on the hood, bumper, side panels and roof. Hopefully we can continue to increase the cars performance to a point where we have a 9 or 8 sec quarter mile car. However, time and money will dictate the progress.

Step 1. Get the car running and on the track.
Step 2. Power adder (NOS?)
Step 3. ?
Step 4. ?
Step 5. ?

I can see more cars in the future with different motor combinations. The whole point is to have fun and create something as a club.

just a thought.....why not get another 400 dollar set up and build both ways.....yes it would cause a divide in money but i think it would be a cheaper way than swapping back and forth in one car all the time....just have two....just a thought
