MIL Eliminators
We won't get into the legal disclaimers here regarding off-road pipes, you know the laws in your state so do as you see fit. We will mention however that removing the catalytic converters will trigger a "check engine" light on 1996 and up Mustangs. This is because the EEC-V engine management system utilizes oxygen sensors both before and after the catalytic converters. The computer expects to see voltage from the aft O2 sensors corresponding to a lean mixture as a result of exhaust gas cleaning by the converters. Removing the converters sends the wrong signal, triggering a check engine light. Fortunately there is a way to eliminate the problem. Several companies sell "MIL Eliminators" (Malfunction Indicator Light). The MIL eliminator is simply a resistor and capacitor circuit placed in the O2 sensor harness that sends the computer the lean signal (300mV) it expects to see.

if it is tuned then the o2 sensers could be turned off and you dont have a engine light pop up.

and emilio make that 1995+ not 96

no, not safe. autosport performance told me that the O2 sensors control 30% of the a/f at idle and are probably on of the reasons my 96gt blew up. i had a light on and ignored it. 3 months later my pistons shattered.

Sorry Emilio but my 1995 V6 is OBDII

94+ V6 Mustangs and 96+ V8 Mustangs were OBD II

I now that because I have run my CEL many a times

and many many people at auto part stores have told me it was not OBD II and they were proven wrong every time

heres a few people who agree
