more boost

well it has been a thought for sometime now, i want to swap pullies later on this spring. Now the question that i'm wondering one of you guys may know is how much more boost can i run with out retuning my car. When greg at RET tuned my car he gave me a 12 to 1 A/F ratio at 7lbs of boost. I'm think of a 3.33 pulley at this time which i believe could be 11lbs of boost. My car these days throw's a code that reads that both cylinder banks run rich, which leaves me to believe i could throw a smaller pulley and the extra air will help the A/F ratio. That being said i will be throwing a intercooler before that so.... what you guys think?????

I don't care what anyone tells you, do not run your car after a pulley swap unless you get a tune! If you do you are playing with fire especially since you do not have a wideband 02. 12:1 is not rich. It's actually starting to cross over to the lean side of the house. A blower car should ideally be at 11:0-11:5-1. Your car probably throws that code from back wash into the cylinders after coming off of a hard run. At 12:1 A/F I would venture to say that your car has more in it as it is. Sometimes too lean isn't mean. Be safe not sorry. If you swap pulleys get a tune and don't get on it until you do. Just my .02$

the code will start most of the time after the car is just started and then i go down the road a bit and then it starts. But that was the answer i was expecting but seeing how im going to throw the intercooler on it may as well do a pulley swap and shoot for 375+ to the wheels.

FYI, I did back to back dyno runs with the SAME tune with a 3.0 and a 3.5 pulley, and the air fuel was exactly the same on both runs. That is the beauty of the MAF. I do have a wideband though to make sure. Spend the cash on a used wideband and then go for it!

some times i get the 'right bank rich' code. I know that is normal condsidering this car has a blower. But it didn't throw the code until october and that is about 3 months after the car was tuned which i think is a little unual but i think the car doesn't recognize the S/C and it throws a code because it thinks it should be running 14's in A/F ratio.

You could slow down the velocity of the air travel by T'ing that line off and installing another check valve/pcv there along with an oil catch can ($12.99 Home depot) to keep the oil out of the intake.

No codes are normal... Need the DTC please...:) And quite taking your car to that shadetree mechanic orange something...:)

I wouldn't recommend that catch can. That is actually designed for a vacuum pump setup. You don't want an open breather because it will suck unmetered air from the atmosphere and may cause a lean condition at idle and part throttle. I say may because sometimes the computer can compensate for this somewhat controlled vacuum leak.

You want a closed one like the one steeda sells, but you can get that same water/oil separator from homes depot for $12.99 like already stated.
