Route 66 Memorial weekend cruise

How many of you would be interested in a weekend cruise down RTE 66 the weekend of Memorial Day (May 23/24). Maybe out to the Grand Canyon or Flagstaff. We could take RTE 66 out and I-40 back or I-40 out and 66 back. I'd say leave the morning of the 23rd (Sat) and come back the 24th. Plenty of time with most having Monday off. Cruised 66 back from the Grand Canyon last year and it was just a cool vibe even in the wifes explorer. So whos up for it. You got two months to save for gas money. This wouldn't limited to Mustangs. Like the Performance cruises you guys put together I'd love to have as many cars as possible, so you can spread the word to who ever you might feel is interested. I have it posted on socalstangs and themustangsource.

wow that would be nice never been to the grand canyon.. If I didn't have something planned I would be down...

sounds like a blast man, i know the wife has bn interested in seeing the grand canyon for a while, but im doin workups so im not sure if ill be able to make it!!!

Sounds like a good cruise, I like that stretch of road. I may be in if nothing is on the schedule for work at that time and I can pick out a new set of tires, I'm looking for a set of wider tires that are not much taller than the stock ones (probably the same size as the Nitto 555's 255/50/17's).

I'll be keeping track mostly through socalstangs. I'll put a list up there of who is interested. I'll try to keep this one updated the same way. Gibs if you could post this on the same sites you used for the dyno cruises that would be great. You can link them back here or shoot me a pm through socalstangs and I'll add them in to. Yeah we stayed in Williams when we went out last year. Just about an hour outside the Canyon. If you've never been, it's an awesome place.

On the calender now, woohoo!!! Got six to eight people interested, gotta be more out there. Let me know what other forums I could hit up. Know you guys converse with some of the GM crowd. Don't care about the makes, just want to make a good cruise with some nice rides.

Updates and a poll are being done at socalstangs forums. Right now we have about nine cars interested. Probably be taking my wifes explorer also to hold all the kids and coolers.

Okay everyone, its about a month till the cruise date so I want to firm up who is most likely going. We will be going out on 66 on Saturday. Hit the Canyon on Sunday and cruise 40 back Sunday night. HHBH if you want to hit Flagstaff its only about an hour from Williams (were we will pobobly stay). You could just meet up with us before we leave the canyon. Williams is the closest town to the Canyon, if we start now we should be able to get rooms. So let me know how sure you are that you will be going. I plan on this being a CRUISE, I will be bringing some walkie talkies and my wifes explorer to provide more room for cooler etc... There will be sections where we can get some 65-75 mph vids plus plenty of twisties north of Oatman. Later all, this should be a nice cruise if most of us show

If I come with, I will have the Trailblazer SS. Wanna try it on some twisties....LOL

What hotel are we going to be in? you wanna pick one or what d you think? If we all stay in 1 or 2 it will be easier for everyone the next morning.

I am only bringing the SUV as I cant afford the gas for both out there and back....
