I finally have enough of the parts together to start the new install of the tubular K-Member:

Hawk Slotted Rotors
KYBAXG Struts
Energy Suspension Bushings/Dust Covers
Stock Springs
Upgraded Sway Bar Bolts (Thanks Orange)
Stock Lower Control Arms (Thanks Orange)
Tubular K-Member (Thanks Bigbluedog)

I plan on getting the car off the ground as far as I can this Sunday evening and then pressing the install until completion. Should have it done by Friday evening. Anyone bored during the week, I get home at 4pm and my address is:

7972 Montara Ave.
San Diego, Ca. 92126

I'll keep you fed and full of soda/water/beer.

Some pics of most of the parts:

Looks good. Be prepared to have to cut a coil. When I ran my aje k-member with stock a-arms for some reason it raised the front end up pretty high. Good luck with the install and keep a close eye on Emilio, lol!

If it raises it up to high, I'll have more room for the 2" drop spindles.

Started the tear down today and added a few pics. I believe I have the car high enough, but if not I still have 4" left on my jack stands. Subzero and I pulled the old A-arms and now I have a bunch of cleaning and painting to complete before I lift the engine and drop the old K-Member. Us old guys accomplished a lot, but were tuckered out by 8pm.

I'm taking the old A-arms to work to remove the spindles and get them ready to sandblast.

Car in the air!!

Old vs. New Springs. I'll be selling the black ones, 800lb springs will lower front about one inch. Price: $50

Perch: Bolts along with top of K-member to frame, allows for stock springs.

New Cherry Picker: Donated by the X son-in-law, he owes me $700.

F-ING shops: Well, I removed the steering rack and pinion today and the K-Member is ready to drop. As you can see in the picture below, F-ING shops, there are only three bushings and one of them is severly torn....did I say "F-ING SHOPS". Not certain who or when this was screwed up, but it was done over the last 20yrs some time. The car has only been in the shop for two front end alignments, wish I could remember where, and JBA that only worked on the motor....F-ING ALIGNMENT SHOP.

Do your own work. Others do not care about your vehicle like you do. Only take your car to the shop as a last resort and then trust no one and inspect everything with a microscope...F-ING SHOPS!!!

Today Soliz came over and we went to work on hoisting the engine and removing the Old K-member, dropped the oil pan, installed the new girdle and windage tray. We supported the front of the crankshaft with a block of wood and jack and the crankshaft stayed on position. The main bearing caps did not move, so all should be well, fingers crossed. The girdle and windage tray combo by Brothers Performance, fit without any modifications. Here are some pics of the recent work.

OK Stupid guy question time.......

I know the girdle just adds strength to the Mains.....but the windage tray does what?

keeps oil from sloshing around?

Just wondering.

Looks like you are making progress though.

Assembly continues on the Mustang and it has been challenging. The springs finally went into place after much struggle. Finally I kicked down the lower control arms, inserted the springs, held them in place with a pry bar while soliz jacked them into place. Thanks to Orange, the spindles are in place. He told me to spin the castle nut into place with an impact wrench first. Once they tightened, I was able to torque them to specs. That was enough for a day, but here are pictures of the progress.

Finished up the install today. Car is back on the ground and waiting for the hood to go back on. I started it up for just a few minutes and the oil pressure returned in about six seconds....a little scary, but not to bad. I'm taking it out for a test drive this evening, once I get the hood back on. If the alignment isn't too bad, I'll bring it to Breakfast at Balboa tomorrow morning. Here are a few final pics.
