Update on transit to San Diego...

Well we left Monday on our 39 day trip to San Diego. We are hitting alot of ports and we are slow..so thats why 39 days. I will be taking some pics here and there and posting them in this thread so check back from time to time. I am already so ready to be there and get settled it isnt even funny. I forget what sleep was like and those Navy know what I mean. Fat Tuesdays will be helping me unwind in a few days! Will update more as I can cause this MRSAT is horrible and we have to share it on top of its slowness. Hope all is well with everyone.:beer:-Shane

Well guys..I am wore out and tired! No I didnt have sex with a Mexican hooker! Yesterday we walked about 5 miles of Cozumel and today we took a boat out for snorkling and now at Margaritaville. About to head back to the ship and crash out! Take care all! -Shane

Well...went through the Panama Canal and that was very interesting! Alot of history there and I'm gonna look more into it when I get the time. I got several pics and will post when I get to a good internet connection. Tomorrow we are gonna hit up some tourist trip with kayaks and see Monkey Island and some cool waterfalls. Should be a great day and def want to take advantage of being somewhere I might never visit again. Going through the canal was exhausting. I had a full workday and then started the canal at 1600 at which time I manned a m240 machine gun till 0430 in the morning. We moored up and for the next hour I set up the duty sections with weapons and got the watchbill started as I was the duty section leader. Then got 2 wonderful hours of sleep and started the actual duty day. Later that night I got three hours of sleep due to drills and my watches. Alot of you know the wonderful Military life I speaketh of....lol -Shane

Tonight about 5 of us went out into Panama. We went to the Mall and went into about every store. I bought a camera, some post cards, painting of the locks to frame with my canal certificate and a few other items. We ate at the mall and then went to Obertos I think which was on the water in a ritzy marina. On the way back our cabby was on the phone and we heard him say Americanas and we were like WTH? Then he goes talk to my friend so I took the phone and was like whats up? Well we were on the radio and the DJ was talking to me, lol. The guys went nuts of course. This radio station was awesome and we had been listening to it and he said the dj was his friend. Everyone was his friend it seemed. So I was in the front and somehow...we fit the other 4 guys in the back of this little cab. Yeah..total circus clowns thing. Great night all in all! -Shane

Well, we are leap froggin up the west coast to San Diego now. So much more sea life over here than I am use to. We counted 55 sea turtles all about 2 feet in length in a 5 hour period. Got a few pics of them as well as some dolphins. The ship with us caught a 8 foot sail fish and had to use a fantail crane to bring it up on the ship. Then they ate..alot. This trip is dragggggging on and I am so ready to get there. We dont get much internet but sometimes when we pull into a port but other than that..RIVER CITY. Hope all is well with everyone.-Shane
