what oil do you use, and when do u change it

Old thread but I wanted to add my 2 cents, Just switched to Royal Purple and although I don't havfe numbers to prove it I have noticed a difference in how the car responds. Feels like more sounds like more and makes me happy RP FTW!!!!

yeah, i run royal purple in my grand prix...not to make it faster but becasue it is a good oil and i can get it cheap on base. i also felt improvement in power tho. i'd run it in my fox, but i was told it could emphasize a small leak if i have one i havent found.

Full synthetic oils tend to find leaks that werent there before. LOL

I run Lucas 10w30 and Lucas Stabilizer in mine.

Royal Purple IS gay!

Castrol all the way... if you change your oil every 3,000 it really doesnt matter what you use!

royal purple is great oil....i know nothing about castrol. never even used it....for the mustang its 10x30 valvoline (the basic stuff, not that extended life or high mileage)

It's the stuff my dad always used in his Stangs
and I guess since it's part of my name and my sister Val !

Valvoline is good stuff and so is mobile 1.... I just can't see spending 6 dollars a quart of Royal purple... 3.50 is my limit. in 2 months its coming out again anyways....

I have always always used valvoline. Not that I notice improvement over any other type of oil, and I am sure none are really better than the other but because I have always used it, and I beat the hell out of my cars and trucks anyone who knows me knows that sometimes the oil last longer than the body does on my trucks and cars. LOL.. But no matter how much I have tried and beat on them the engines always seem to do well. WE even emptied the oil (valvoline)out of a 65 chevy truck of my cousins, straight 6 we wanted to swap motors so we decided to destroy the old one. It ran for almost 2 weeks on the lube that the valvoline had left in there. I dont know how long any other oils have lasted but a bone dry engine beaing beatin on that lasts for two weeks in my opinion was being lubricated properly by the oil and it left the parts nice and coated. But thats just my two cents, and probably not worth more than that. LOL..

well, i ran mine hard on friday and i came out saturday and was 2 quarts low....scared me, but i had no problem. and machman, mobile one is more expensive than royal purple on base. and its 6.15 for mobile onelast time i checked to 5.75 for royal purple

I've also heard that after you run a synthetic oil that it is not very wise to go back to a conventional oil, too. As far as Mobil1 being more expensive, I really don't care anymore... if they are gonna rape us for fuel, they might as well poke us for oil, too. I refuse to give up my toy and act like a grownup... LOL.

i used royal purple in mine. when i get another stang, i will use it again, and i dont care about the price anymore also. all my buddies thought i was insane for the amount of oil changes i did, but i drove the car hard. so oh well

I'm with you, Henry... I change mine about every 1500 to 2000 miles. My friends give me grief about it too, but I just tell them it's my car, my money, my labor... shut up and hand me another quart of Mobil1... LOL

i use 7 qts of redline 5w30 and a Wix filter for the cobra.

and in the fox i use Mobil 1 with a Motocraft filter.
