Wicked Stangs Race Car (Body Style)

Alright this is on everyone mind.. Here is my 2 cents. We have a few members that are contributing to our cause and I thank you for that. With just a few members helping out its going to be a little harder getting our Race Car together. So I purpose we continue to find that special car.

First generation (1964–1973)
1. Too Heavy and too expensive.

Second generation (1974–1978)
2. Not a Mustang in My Book

Third generation (1979–1993)
3. Awesome choice.
Problem is three body choices
1. LX Hatchback

2. GT

3. LX Notchback

Fourth generation (1994–2004)
4. A little more than our price range for a used car.

Fifth generation (2005–Present)
5. Ugly looking cars.. Sorry J/K (GIBS) I really like them just to expensive for our WS Blood.



I will Post a Poll and I know the LX Notchback would win. What I think we have to look at is maybe the GT. We are finding lots of LX notchbacks but, too expensive. We need to focus on our GOAL of a 1000 bucks.. Right now you can find GT's everywhere and real cheap too. The LX hatchbacks are a little more expensive.


So what I ask of you guys is keep on looking for that body style. I know its going to be difficult but, we will prevail.

we should cut our losses and find whats cheapest, considering the notches are hard to find with a sound chassie we could find a 4 banger and swap out the motor, the chasie will probably be alittle more stiff in a 4 banger because it hasn't endured the torq from a 5.0 over the years.

Find the cheapest with the least work to make it into what we want. I would rather us pay more for a car with a cage already in it and stuff like that....


And yes Emilio, they are ugly. only to those that discriminate against Mustangs....Every Mustang is nice. They have different looks, but they all have character. I still am not sure what character the 2nd Gens had but some people swear they are awesome cars. I owned one of the 1st and 2nd Generations. I liked them both.


I say Fox Bodies make the best drag cars of all the Mustangs.

The GT is the heaviest of the group, but with enough torque we can get anything to launch.

Isnt the reason for the Notch is they are lighter as well as stiffer than the hatches?

Yeah the notches are the lightest if... and if they have roll up windows and the lack of all the bells and whistles. I would say it depends on the car it self as far as the chassie goes. Like i said before the old 4 bangers will have a better a chassie because they dont haven't delbt with the torq of a 5.0, and the 4 bangers are probably not hot rodded around therefore we will have a better chassie.

yeah, but an unmolested 4 banger is around 3k. ive found a couple here in sd. thye are all hatches tho

sorry but the 64-66 are the lightest ever built so NO THEY ARE NOT TOO HEAVY.


And my brother picked up a straight body 65 a few months back for 1000.00. Needed paint and interor. but thats what were looking for is just the body of a Mustang.

69-73 are way too heavy. all the 64-66's ive seen are 5k+

i say gt there are more of them for the price if you had to stripe all the stuff off lol

i say lx notch back. gt's are always heavier bc they have twice as much sound densining foam. blus the gt's ground effects weigh more then the lx'es. and im not possitive but the notch backs might be a little shorter than the hatch.

64-66 mustang weighed in at 2860lbs

92 GT weighed in at 3390

If I still had my 83 Hatch I would have donated it to the club. That would have been fun and it was in good shape.
