Before I installed my transbrake today I installed some new rear springs. After doing some extensive research on why I get my best 60' with my adjustable shocks set at 0. I found out that all stock springs were not created equal!
As it turns out the springs that are the best for drag racing are stock springs from 84-93 NON GT springs. They can be from a V6 or V8. NO 4banger springs and NO GT springs!
The 84-93 springs are 160lb springs. The SN95 springs that I was using were 220lb springs. Way too stiff !! Especially for my relatively light car.
Swapping the springs should give me some adjustability of the rear. By having a softer spring I should be able to fine tune the rear shocks now. Where as before it was 0 or lose time in the 60'. This will be especially helpful with the addition of the transbrake in case it hits the tires too hard.
The Fox springs are actually taller than the SN95 springs. By the way I purchased the Fox springs from the junkyard for $20 and then blasted them and had them painted at work.
Also the only rubber bushing that still existed on my car were the rear lower control arm bushings. I removed one bushing to give to a friend of mine who owns a mill. He is going to machine me 4 new bushings out of aluminum and then everything on the car will be solid.
