Ok, I decided to go ahead and do the swap, I will have a few parts available for sell when I do. I plan on starting in April, probably start preperations on April 11th. I will have to do it in stages as I don't have all the money to do everything I want. I hope to get it done by July or August. If you guys have any tips or advice, I'd appreciate any you could give me. I should have around $8000 by the end of August, so I hope that is enough.... I will also need all the help I can get, so anybody is welcome to come over and help me if they like.

you probably wont be able to smog it

Why not?

351w came in an SN95 therefore it is a legal swap for his car. They use all of the same emissions equipment with maybe a few minor mods for the hoses and such, but the accessory bracket for smog is the same for 351w and 302.

I have already done this swap. 99% of smog morons will not even know that it's a 351w. You will not be able to get super aggressive with the parts such as long tubes though.

Now on a side note: Why do you want to do this swap if your engine is good. I checked your compression for you and all cylinders checked out with good compression. I thought we were going to run a 2nd pcv and see if that fixes your problem? You can also take the car in for a leak down test. That is where they pressurize the cylinders with air and see how much is leaking down.

You just went from a slow ass V6 to a pretty fast V8 and now you want a 351w in April??? Slow down and enjoy your car for a while. There is more in your car with some parts swapping. If engine is all good I would swap out those GT40's for some AFR 165's and then port match the lower intake, get a better MAF and inlet pipe (C&L's are garbage for the 5.0's) get a FRPP 65mm T-body and then Get all new 2 1/2" exhaust. Then put a blower on it! All of that and you woulod probably still have money for a paint job :)

That's if the engine is all good. Call Total performance and ask them if they can do a leak down test for you. Greg 619-562-9894 If he doesn't do it ask him who does.

yeah the 5.8l was in a 95 Mustang

The cobra R

I think it will be too much of a pain to do tht swap unless the whoe purpose of the car is the track.

Stick with the 302 and do a 347 stroker kit to it or a 331 for alot less money.

It isn't any less money to do a 331 or 347 than it is to do a 351w. A 351w is very streetable and isn't that big of a deal to swap into his car. The thing is he can still make good power with what he already has.

I finish College in April, and to answer subs question, I don't have a girlfriend, or bills (at the moment). I was doing this to get a feel for what everybody thiks, it's a lot faster to do it this way then to just ask. I want to do a blower, and I know the compression is good, but some stuff is just off with it. I will see how it runs after I do the active system like Orange has. I will have to see, hopefully I will have time tommorow. Oh, and I don't like NOS, I want something that I can have on all the time, not just at the track.

Just don't do anything on the spur of the moment. Listen to the advises of the people on here, they know a lot about this. Work with what you have and don't make any changes unless it is necessary and it make sense to do it.

We care that's why we give you a hard time. Otherwise, we would just let you go out and blow your $$$. Understand? Don't make us come over and beat some sense into you. :D:D

Keep your bottom end and just get more air into and out of your motor more efficiently. That's how every motor makes power. Plus cubic inches require cubic dollars. Cam intake heads and exhaust is all you need to make decent power with your motor. Keep it simple

like orange said... alot of the 5.0 stuff will swap over... just build your 351w to a stroker 393w and take your time... my fox is ready for the engine to be dropped in but I'm kind of in the air... i have my LS so i think I might wait to put the engine in after i do some head port work and cam ans such... just take your time... if it was me and i had a running 5.0 mustang... i would just cruise it till i was done with the other build.. just cruise it stop worring about going fast and enjoy your mustang..... alot of people wish they could have just that... I've been stang less for over 2 years now and I hated every day of it!

how about just leaving everything the way it is and get a used s-trim for around $1500-1800, plus get some 42lb injectors, decent fuel pump, maf and a good tune. hell there are some used s-trim kits with all those parts included for that much. and thats an easy 400rwhp with around 10 psi if you already have GT40 heads on a 302 shortblock.

this thing already has the works done to it(308 stroker with gt40 heads) .... i would fix it then put a blower on it.
