Gear Oil will be the 75W 140, which ever brand you like. You'll need a pinion bearing, differential seal and crush sleeve. Othere then that, you should be good to go. Buy Ford Motor Racing Gears and you wont have to worry about installing new shims. If you purchase another brand, there is no gaurantee. Oh, make sure you have some paint on gear marker to check the gear meshing.

i would say go with a 3.90 then.... i dont think you'll ever win the battle of MPG so make it count.

Well, then you will get a lot of experience changing rear gears and you'll probably end up at the same place.....4:10s.

i got an auto as well

Then I suggest you forget anything lower then a 4.10. Any lower gears will not create much gain. The 4.10 gear is optimal for matching engine rpms to horsepower during shifting. This has been proven by multiple sources and comes highly reommended by yours truely and 5.0 magazine....just ask GT400SC.
