Here's a link to a set. I just did a quick search. I'm sure you could find something cheaper. Oh and as far as an auto goes I'm sure it would be just fine. It still has OD so you should stay under 3000 rpms on the freeway and yet you'll get just a bet more than 3.73s. I love my 3.73s but I do wish I went deeper. With as stock as your car is I'd go with 3.90s they are by far the most over looked gears out there.
Well its your money and your car. Get out and ride with others with some 4.10s and 3.73s and then decide. I don't think you'll find someone with 3.90s though. I've rode in one car with them and I immediately fell in love with them. Reasonable cruising RPM's and yet great acceleration. I guess I can't say enough about them.
4:10s are the proven gears... you can guess all you wont... Its all in being in the RPM range when shifting in to the next gear to be as fast as you can... if that doesnt matter. i dont see why you would want to change gears at all...
A drag strip is one place where a good gear can really shine but if you aren't racing than don't worry too much. What is sounds like you are looking for is a gear that will get you around town without sacrificing too much mileage and then be able to light the tires up and have some fun when the occasion presents itself. If you are going to be racing all the time or your car is driven only once in awhile then ya 4.10s are a great gear but not for a daily driver.
thats what i have herd to great drag set up and with the gears i got not i can light them up thats not a probliem i want better gears instaled so the day i go to the track i can get a move on when the tree goes
One thing I noticed when I did my 4.10's is that the Axle shaft bearings are different in the 05's on up vs. the older, so when you get your Install kit you may want to get a set from the dealership as well as the seals. Another is that some people had a problem with gear whine from other makes compared to the Ford racing stuff. You may want to throw in the Ford Differential clutch pack while it's apart so you don't get that noise when turning that caused the creaion of that recall part to begin with. I'm running 4.10's, Manual trans and supercharged, so far no problems.
