As was I...but now i do technical stuff. What are some other things that you like to do?

Im taking classes online right now...working towards my associate degrees, turns out all the classes in the navy..all i need is 8 more for a degree. So who ever says you can do school while on sea duty...is dead wrong..hell i can even do them on deployment.

GSM, STG, CO, LPO, CPO, STS.......

Gas turbine System Tech- Mechanic or GSE also same thing but Electrician ( thats what i am )

Stg Sonar Tech
CO - Commanding officer
LPO leading Petty officer
CPO- Chief Petty officer
Sts... I'm not even sure

STG is a Surface Sonar Technician
STS is a Submarine Sonar Technician

Boosted, we had 6 STG1's on my last ship and I was 5th in line seniority wise..... our numbers are way down from 6-7 years ago so that isnt very common now. But I was a Precommisioning crew so we were stacked with bodies.

Foxman, as a STG I search for Subs and any Underwater threats. STS's do the same except on Submarines. They also are responsible for the safe navigation of the sub as it has no windows like us surface guys. If I could do it again.....I think ET would be the rate to have. Even if the advancement isnt as high as others, the civilian possibilities after retirement or when you get out, are alot more.

bro, your job would be..

Aviation Machinists Mate aka Aircraft engine mechanic (AD)
--we work on aircraft engine, and fuel systems..

Aviation Structural Mechanic aka airframer (AM)
-- they work on hydrolics, airframes, panels, painting, welding..

Both i think would be of your liking, i can introduce you to a few people at my work who are ADs, and AMs. Joe is also an AM.

BTW the pay isnt bad, an if you live on base the pay is great, cause you dont pay for utilities, or anything.

Andy, I think you would like AD which is what Dustin and I both are or maybe even an MR. MR's are machine shop guys. Good gig and you can fab **** up all day long! Come talk to me or Dustin and we will point you in the right direction. The first couple of years will be tuff but it gets easier the longer your in. If you go aviation you will have a good chance of coming back to Lemoore if you wanted.
