The 04 and up F150 with the 5.4L engine is backed by the 4r75W which is nearly a race ready version of the the 4r70W. It has to be the 5.4L engine, but there are tons of F150's with that engine.
The 4r75W can almost be put in a race car without mods. There are a few that are mandatory, but not much. If you get it from a F150, the tailshaft will need to be changed.
Just another option while you are at the junk yards. Not a lot of Mustang guys know and perhaps the junkyard itself might give a better deal on it because it "isn't" for a mustang.
